Metro Paramedics Receives Best Innovation Award

Metro Paramedics is proud to announce we have been recognized by the American Heart Association and its Mission: Lifeline program. Metro recently received this honor for our work with time-sensitive diagnoses such as STEMI (heart attack), stroke, and cardiac arrest, and also applying the most up-to-date evidence-based treatment guidelines to improve patient care and outcomes in the communities we serve.

“For a system of care to be effective, all parties need to be engaged not only in patient care but in the feedback cycle and a quality improvement process,” said Art Miller, Quality and Systems Improvement Director for the American Heart Association. “EMS has always had a good relationship with ED staff, but what about beyond the doors of the emergency dept? Cardiology, neurology, and the cardiac cath lab should also have a relationship and dialogue with EMS. That’s a primary focus of Mission: Lifeline and the EMS Awards program.”

The American Heart Association says that the Mission: Lifeline EMS recognition is a program designed to showcase Emergency Medical Service organizations across the nation for excellent STEMI care. Prehospital personnel are the first providers of care to patients suffering from cardiac emergencies. The role of EMS in the system of care for these patients is crucial and often sets the course for the patient’s outcome. The Mission: Lifeline EMS recognition program is launched in 2014 and continues to celebrate the achievement of the pre-hospital providers and their collaboration with each other and destination hospitals specific to STEMI patient care.

Metro Paramedics would like to thank all of its employees for adhering to the highest standards of medical care and making this recognition possible. We look forward to continuing our pursuit of providing the best care for our patients, and the Mission: Lifeline program allows us to participate in a coordinated system of care. We’d also like to thank the AHA and the Mission: Lifeline program.
