The first ambulance on scene, RPSD Ambulance 169, was staffed by Metro Firefighter-Paramedics Daniel Farias and Patrick Marshall. Upon arrival, they immediately began assessing the scene and field-triaging the vehicle occupants. The second ambulance on scene, RPSD Ambulance 168, was staffed by Metro employees: FF-Paramedic-In-Charge Brian Guderian, Firefighter-Paramedic Angelina Maschietto, and Paramedic-In-Field-Training Ryan Jordan.
Incident command called for additional resources from Chicago, Des Plaines, and Park Ridge Fire Departments. FF-PIC Guderian was assigned medical command for the incident and the remaining Metro employees were active in triage and transport roles. All RPSD Metro employees did a great job in managing a complex MCI MVA scene. In all, 4 patients were transported to local hospitals and 23 were evaluated and released at the scene.
