June 2020 Call of the Month

Metro Paramedic Employees assigned to the Elwood Fire Protection District are being awarded Metro’s June 2020 Call of the Month.

On Friday, June 12, 2020, the crews were dispatched to the industrial site for a patient who was bleeding. On arrival, crews made contact with a conscious, alert, and oriented patient who was hit in the face with a circular saw.  The crew noted a laceration from the patient’s mid-left cheek to his lower-right lip. The crew attended to the patient’s bleeding and administered pain medications. The patient was then transported to Amita St. Joseph’s Hospital in Joliet without complications.

On follow-up with staff at St. Joe’s Hospital, the patient had the facial laceration, was missing mandibular teeth 23 to 26, and also had mandibular fractures where the teeth were missing. The patient was transported to Loyola Hospital for further care.

Metro Paramedic Services thanks its employees Kevin Atwood, Brian Nash, William Perry, and Brandon Pfizenmaier for their dedicated services to the Elwood Fire Protection District and its constituents. Keep up the good work and thank you for all that you do!
